Ageing isn’t about lost youth

I had a fabulous weekend reconnecting with old friends, making new friends at a wedding. Then when I got home I was lucky enough to share the space with some of our remarkable teachers & guides co-presenting on Harley St at Home’s first R&R retreat.

It was a fabulous day of reviving & rejuvenating, relaxing & restoring, reflecting & releasing & reframing.

I feel passionately that reframing is such a powerful part of our meno journey.

I believe that the menopause is a journey of self-discovery, an opportunity to welcome the lessons & learnings, the healing & growth, an invitation to step into who were are truly meant to be.

As I took our beautiful ladies through the closing practice to relax & restore in the closing yoga practice of the day, I invited them to reflect, release & reframe, sharing practices to ease symptoms & encourage a sense of reflection, release & reframing.

I shared Donna Ashworth’s beautiful poem Ageing isn’t about lost youth.

Ageing isn’t about lost youth, it’s about finding who you were meant to be all along.

I just love this & reframing our meno journey in this way is so liberating.

Transformation is messy – if it’s messy, it’s working, you’re doing it right! Think about the butterfly. To become a beautiful butterfly, the caterpillar first dissolves & then reinvents herself as a butterfly.

So too is transformation: messy & chaotic, noisy & uncomfortable enough to get your attention.

Once it has, then the fun can really begin.

That meandering adventure of self-discovery as you reveal who you really are authentically here to be.

What a wonderful gift!

Ageing isn’t about lost youth, it’s about finding who you were meant to be all along.
